In questo post viene illustrata in inglese, la formazione del governo britannico.
Great Britain has a form of democratic government having the monarch who is not only the Head of State but also the symbol of the nation’s unity.
Parliaments made up of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The function of Parliament is to pass laws, vote for taxation, examine the government’s policies and administration, and debate the major political issues of the day.
The House of Commons consists of 650 members elected every five years.
The House of Lords, which has just over 1,100 members, is not an elected body and consists of members of the royal family, of the old aristocracy, bishops, lawyers and retired politicians.
There are three main politicai parties in Britain: the Conservative Party, the Labour Party, and the Social-Democratic and Liberal Alliance.
The government is formed by the party which has the majority in Parliament. The Prime Minister is generally the leader of that party and is appointed by the Queen. The Prime Minister chooses his (or her) ministers to form the Cabinet (about 30 members), to govern the nation.
